COPENHAGEN: Shipping company Frontline said on Tuesday its oil tanker Front Eagle was involved in a collision near the Strait of Hormuz, describing the event as a navigational incident unrelated to the ongoing regional conflict.
This is the first explanation to have come out of the fire seen in multiple ships along the Gulf of Oman. The incident caught even more heat due to the ongoing Iran Israel conflict.
Earlier, British maritime security firm Ambrey said that the cause of an incident 22 nautical miles east of Khor Fakkan in the United Arab Emirates, near the Strait of Hormuz, was not security-related. But it didn’t provide any details about the incident.
However, now the shipping company Frontline has issued a statement that it is currently responding to an incident involving their owned tanker, front eagle, managed by anglo eastern, which was involved in a collision with the vessel Adalynn off Fujairah.
Frontline said that this is a navigational incident and not related to the current regional conflict. Following the incident immediate action was taken to extinguish a fire on deck of the front eagle, the company added.
