China backs Palestinian membership to the UN: Chinese FM

BEIJING: The Chinese Foreign Minister (FM) affirmed China’s steadfast support for Palestine’s bid for full membership in the United Nations on Thursday.
According to the state-run Xinhua news agency, the FM stated that China fully backed Palestine’s right to achieve full recognition within the international body.
Presently, Palestine holds observer status within the United Nations.
China’s disappointment with the United States surfaced as it blocked yet another United Nations Security Council resolution urging for a ceasefire in Gaza.

The Chinese Foreign Minister strongly denounced Israeli aggression against Palestinians, stating that no justification exists for targeting civilians.
China also called for the release of all detainees while advocating for the convening of a more “authoritative peace conference” to address the longstanding conflict.
The foreign minister reiterated China’s commitment to working with the international community to restore peace and save lives in the region.
The Chinese Foreign Minister urged both Israel and Palestine to resume peace talks “as soon as possible”, highlighting the urgency of diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions.
According to Gaza’s health ministry, 30,717 Palestinians till date have lost their lives to Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, more than 72,000 Palestinians have been wounded.
