DELHI: In the ongoing saga of violence linked to Khalistani activists in India, the Delhi Police Special Cell apprehended two gunmen believed to be associated with Canada-based Khalistani activist Arshdeep, also known as Arsh Dala. The arrests followed an encounter that unfolded in East Delhi’s Mayur Vihar area during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

During the confrontation, one of the shooters sustained injuries after being shot in the leg, as reported by Indian media sources. The police have revealed that the arrested individuals had purportedly plotted an attack targeting a Punjabi singer.

Both detainees were fugitives who had evaded authorities after jumping parole in a previous case in Punjab.

Arsh Dala, the alleged mastermind behind the operation, has been a fugitive since his departure from India in 2020. He is currently wanted by the Delhi Police, Punjab Police, and the National Investigation Agency (NIA), with his whereabouts reported to be in Canada.

The arrests shed light on the cross-border implications of the ongoing Khalistani movement, raising concerns about the involvement of overseas elements in orchestrating violence within India. The Delhi Police, Punjab Police, and NIA are intensifying efforts to bring Arsh Dala to justice, highlighting the collaborative nature of the investigation across different jurisdictions.
