Doctor murder case: health workers form human chain, demand justice

Health workers in India’s Kolkata held hands to form human chains on Tuesday (September 03), in solidarity with the trainee doctor who was raped and murdered at the city’s R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital.
Protesters demanded swift action and justice for their colleague, as calls for the resignation of the police commissioner continued across the city.

Meanwhile, state party workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party carried out a huge protest march against the West Bengal government over alleged mishandling of the case evidence.
Doctors across the country have held protests following the Aug. 9 killing of the 31-year-old medic, who was raped and murdered at a hospital in the eastern city of Kolkata where she was a trainee reigniting the demands of stricter laws for women’s security in the country.
