WASHINGTON DC: Donald Trump will be sworn in for his second term as president of the United States on Monday, just before 12:00 EST (17:00 GMT), alongside Vice President-elect JD Vance.
The inauguration ceremony, traditionally held outside the US Capitol, has been moved indoors due to frigid temperatures forecasted to drop as low as -11°C.
The event will feature musical performances, a parade, and a host of foreign leaders, including Trump’s allies and rivals.
At least seven sitting heads of state and two former leaders have been invited. Reuters estimates a total attendance of 500,000 guests, with around 200,000 supporters expected to gather in the city to mark the occasion.
Here’s what we know about Trump’s planned executive orders after swearing-in
After taking the oath of office, Trump will deliver a national address, followed by a parade to the White House. The evening will conclude with three inaugural balls.
At his final rally yesterday, Trump vowed to issue a wave of executive orders immediately after taking office, pledging “historic speed and strength.” He declared his intent to repeal “every radical and foolish executive order” of the Biden administration within hours of his swearing-in.
Trump’s planned executive actions include advancing artificial intelligence programs, establishing the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), declassifying records related to the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy, directing the military to develop an Iron Dome missile defense system, and removing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies from the armed forces.
