Dubai has made an astounding announcement regarding the world’s inaugural underwater floating mosque, set to offer worshippers a truly unique prayer experience. With plans for a remarkable Dh55-million project, the city is breaking new ground in architectural innovation.

According to concept images (courtesy of Khaleej Times), the mosque’s design is strikingly distinctive, with one half of the structure situated above the water, housing sitting areas and a delightful coffee shop, while the other half gracefully submerges beneath the water’s surface.

This innovative creation is planned to encompass three floors, with the submerged level serving as the designated prayer area. Here, worshippers will have the extraordinary opportunity to offer their prayers while submerged underwater, creating a truly unforgettable spiritual experience.

Additionally, this underwater section will provide ablution facilities and washrooms for the convenience of visitors.
The mosque project was unveiled during a briefing by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) in Dubai, as part of their religious tourism initiative. According to Ahmed Al Mansoori from the IACAD, construction on this groundbreaking mosque is set to commence “soon.”
While the precise location of this remarkable mosque remains undisclosed, Al Mansoori did provide some insight, stating that it will be positioned very close to the shoreline. Worshippers will have easy access to the mosque via a connecting bridge from the mainland, making it easily accessible to all who seek this extraordinary spiritual encounter.
