Ethiopia landslide claims 55 lives

ADDIS ABABA: At least 55 people lost their lives in a landslide in Ethiopia, with fears that the death toll could rise further, according to local officials.
The landslide struck in the southern region of Gofa following heavy rains yesterday. Authorities reported that the initial landslide forced local residents and police to rush to the scene to assist those affected.
However, a subsequent landslide occurred, burying many of those who had gathered to help.

As of now, rescue teams have recovered 55 bodies from the site of the disaster. Officials expect the death toll to increase as rescue and recovery efforts continue.
Relief operations are actively underway at the location of the landslide to provide assistance to the affected individuals and families.
