‘Fascist’ Trump wanted generals like Hitler

Trump

WEB DESK: John Kelly, a retired marine general who served as the chief of staff for former United States president Donald Trump, revealed more damning details about the former president’s fixation with Hitler on Tuesday.

Following Trump’s comments in which he advocated for the military to deal with “the enemy within,” Kelly felt as if he had to speak out.

Earlier in October, the former president stated that the US has some “sick people, radical left lunatics,” that could be handled by the National Guard, or “if really necessary, by the military.” In response to the comments, Vice President Kamala Harris called the Republican presidential nominee “unstable and unhinged.”

HITLER’S GENERALS

Kelly informed the New York Times that the former president had, on more than one occasion, stated that “Hitler did some good things.” The former White House chief of staff had revealed this previously in a book titled “The Divider: Trump in the White House, 2017-2021,” which was co-written by New Yorker staff writer Susan Glasser and New York Times correspondent Peter Baker.

His statements on Tuesday, as well as the book he co-wrote published in 2021, supports a report from The Atlantic, which stated that two people present for a private conversation in the White House, heard Trump say “I need the kind of generals that Hitler had.”

The former president allegedly went on to clarify that he needed “people who were totally loyal to him, that follow orders,” a claim that Trump spokesperson Alex Pfeiffer denies.

Kelly stated that the Republican presidential nominee “admires people who are dictators.” He added that Trump “certainly falls into the general definition of fascist, for sure,” after defining fascism and what it entails, including “centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition,” and “belief in a natural social hierarchy.”

“Those are the kinds of things that he (Trump) thinks would work better in terms of running America,” Kelly informed, adding shortly after that Trump “prefers the dictator approach to government.”

Kelly believes that Trump wants a similar level of power he had in his business ventures, where he “could tell people to do things and they would do it.”

VETERANS

Kelly also revealed that Trump made some concerning comments regarding veterans. The former president allegedly called veterans who were captured or killed in action, “losers and suckers.”

“Look, it just doesn’t look good for me,” Trump allegedly said in reference to being seen with disabled veterans, specifically those who had lost limbs on the battlefield.

“He may be the only American citizen that feels that way about those who gave their lives or served their country,” Kelly said, appalled at Trump’s comments.

Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said that Kelly was recounting “debunked stories” and that Trump “has always honoured the service and sacrifice of all of our military men and women.”

In 2015, when speaking on former US senator John McCain’s military record, a now deceased veteran and former prisoner of war, Trump stated that he was only a “war hero because he as captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”
