Global call for Gaza ceasefire: ICJ ruling welcomed


THE HAGUE: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey welcomed the recent ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The ruling is seen as a potential catalyst for achieving a permanent, comprehensive, and immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar stated that he hoped the ruling would pave the way for ending the ongoing military operations and opening the Rafah crossing.

Meanwhile, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said that no country is above the law and expressed hope that Israel would adhere to the decision made by the ICJ.

The European Union Commissioner for Crisis Management also talked about the importance of implementing the ruling, hinting that Israel needed to follow the decision.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that the Israeli army has advanced southeast of Rafah. The Israeli invasion has worsened the already-dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, with over 900,000 Palestinians displaced from Rafah over the past two weeks due to Israeli aggression.

The Rafah invasion has led to severe shortages of food, water, and medicine, exacerbating the suffering of the Palestinian population.

The number of Palestinian casualties in Gaza also continue to rise, with reports indicating that the death toll has reached 35,857.
