Global leaders react to Indian attack on Pakistan

WEB DESK: The latest conflict between India and Pakistan has escalated following a series of missile strikes by India into Pakistan-administered Kashmir early on Wednesday.
Dubbed ‘Operation Sindoor’ by the Indian Ministry of Defense, the attack on Pakistan was launched nearly three weeks after the Pahalgam attack, where five gunmen killed 26 tourists in Indian occupied Kashmir. Without evidence, the hardline government of Narendra Modi blamed Pakistan for the attack, vowing a ‘response’.

With the two nuclear-armed states on the brink of all-out war, several international actors stepped into, with the leaders of United States (US), United Nations (UN) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) weighing in.
UAE calls for restraint
In a recent statement, the Foreign Minister of the UAE, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, urged both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint. He talked about the importance of diplomacy and dialogue as the most effective means to resolve crisis peacefully.
“We must avoid further escalation that could threaten regional and international peace”, Zayed stated.
US administration engaged in de-escalation efforts
US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has been in contact with both, Indian and Pakistani officials. A US State Department spokesperson, Tammy Bruce, reiterated that the US is “very engaged” in efforts to mitigate the risks of escalation, and calling on both sides to pursue a peaceful resolution.
UN chief urges maximum military restraint
The spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Stephane Dujarric, expressed deep concern regarding the military strikes conducted by India across the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border.
Dujarric conveyed Guterres’ call for “maximum military restraint” from both nations; stating that the wordl cannot afford a military confrontation between two nuclear-armed countries.
International community calls for dialogue

As tensions continue to rise, the international community remains vigilant, while urging India and Pakistan to engage in dialogue and seek peaceful solutions.
