GAZA: Human rights and climate activist Greta Thunberg has announced her participation in the Global Sumud Flotilla initiative, calling on the public to support efforts to end Israel’s 18 year blockade of the Gaza Strip. The campaign is set to begin on August 31.
In a video circulated hours earlier on Instagram, Thunberg and her fellow pro-Palestinian activists called supporters at large for joining into this effort to pressure Zionist Israeli regime.
Earlier in June, the 22-year-old activist and her group had sailed from Italy for suppling food for Gaza. However, Israeli forces allegedly intercepted their boat in international waters and towed it to the port of Ashdod.
Meanwhile, the activists argued their sailing was lawful as per the UN human rights and condemned this reckless act of the Zionist regime. The Israeli navy had deported these global activists without allowing them to facilitate food that they brought for the people of the war-torn Gaza.
This time, dozens of boats will be leading the Global Sumud Flotilla which will depart from Spain.
According to the activists, additional vessels will join from Tunisia and other ports on September 4.
“This time it will be the biggest international solidarity effort since Israel imposed its siege on Gaza 18 years ago.”

The movement also plans to coordinate demonstrations and actions in over 44 countries to protest the blockade and express solidarity with the Palestinian people.
