Hamas says Israel’s claim it targeted group’s leaders in Gaza strike was ‘false’
CAIRO: Israel’s claim that it was targeting Hamas leaders in an airstrike in Gaza on Saturday was “false”, Hamas said in a statement.
“It’s not the first time Israel claims to target Palestinian leaders, only to be proven false later,” Hamas said.
The airstrike in the southern city of Khan Younis killed at least 71 Palestinians and injured 289, the enclave’s health ministry said.
Israel’s military said it was targeting Hamas military chief Mohammed Deif.
