BEIRUT: The Israeli army officially announced that Hezbollah’s Secretary General Seyed Hassan Nasrallah was killed in the Friday evening Israeli attack according to a Reuters report on Saturday.
Israeli forces have killed Lebanon’s Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the military’s Arabic-speaking spokesperson Avichay Adraee said on Saturday, a day after an Israeli strike on the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Earlier it was reported by Iranian News Agency Tasmin News that the Israeli operation was a failure and that both Hassan Nasrallah and the head of the movement’s Executive Council Seyed Hashem Safieddine were unharmed, following a large aerial assault on Friday.
The Iran-backed Hezbollah has yet to issue any statement on the status of Nasrallah, who has led the group for 32 years.
The Israeli military “eliminated … Hassan Nasrallah, leader of the Hezbollah terrorist organization,” Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee wrote in a statement on X.
“Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorize the world,” the Israeli military said in a post on X on Saturday.
Israel launched a new wave of airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs and other areas of Lebanon on Saturday, a day after carrying out the massive attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut known as Dahiyeh
“This new Israeli aggression proves that the Israeli enemy doesn’t care about all the international efforts and calls for a ceasefire,” Mikati said in the statement issued by his media office.
Earlier, Israeli media claimed the death of Nasrallah’s daughter, Zainab Nasrallah. Zainab is known for her strong advocacy for Hezbollah, in which she drums up support by referencing the death of her brother Hadi Nasrallah, who was killed in 1997 by Israeli forces.
