WEB DESK: Attacking Pakistan in the dead of night on Wednesday and killing 26 Pakistani, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs claimed that the attack was in response to Pahalgam incident two weeks ago because Pakistan ‘did not take any action for its role’, which is yet to be proven by India. India has asked that the attacks should be seen according to a ‘context’ while stating that no civilians were hurt. Pakistan had repeatedly asked for a neutral inquiry which was not considered by India even once. It was added that according to intelligence agencies, there were fears of further attacks on India, although Pakistan maintained that it would not strike until struck.
It was stated that the aim of the Pahalgam attack was to ‘worsen’ the situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir and pave way for cross-border terrorism: “India had provided information related to TRF to the UN 1267 Sanctions Committee in May and November 2024 while in December 2023, India had alerted about the spread of terrorism through smaller terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.”

India maintained that the investigations into the Pahalgam, a highly surveilled area by the Indian Army, revealed links to Pakistan, but is yet to provide compelling evidence save accusations only. India also went ahead to accuse Pakistan of ‘misleading’ FATF adding that the Pahalgam attacks caused grief and anger in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
Earlier an Indian security source had told AFP that three Indian Air Force fighter jets crashed in Indian territory for reasons not immediately clear, following the outbreak of fighting between the two countries on Wednesday. The source, who requested anonymity, said that the wreckage of two of these aircraft was found in Indian Occupied Kashmir, and the third in Punjab state (northwest), without providing details about the fate of the pilots.
