India’s national flag was seen at half-mast at Indian parliament and presidential palace and government buildings.
Yesterday, Pakistan announced a day of mourning and flags flown at half-mast across all government buildings. Statements and condolences have poured in from across the globe after the helicopter accident claimed the lives of Iranian president, foreign minister and other dignitaries.
Raisi, seen as a potential successor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed when his helicopter crashed in poor weather in mountains near the Azerbaijan border, officials and state media said on Monday.
The charred wreckage of the helicopter which crashed on Sunday carrying Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and six other passengers and crew was found early on Monday after an overnight search in blizzard conditions.
