Explosions heard in northern Iran, after Trump brokered ceasefire

ceasefire

TEHRAN: Several Iranian media outlets reported on Tuesday afternoon the sound of explosions in the country’s north, after US President Donald Trump said an Iran-Israel ceasefire was now “in effect”.

The Etemad and Ham Mihan newspapers said explosions were heard and air defences were activated in Babol and Babolsar, two towns about 200 kilometres (124 miles) northeast of Tehran on the Caspian Sea.

Albeit the source of these explosions was not confirmed, however, Katz, the Israeli Defence Minister, had ordered the military well before to launch fresh strikes on the said targets in Iran. He had said these attacks were only mounted in response to what he said were Iranian missiles fired in a “blatant violation” of the ceasefire.

Iran denied striking any missiles at Israel, adding that Israel’s attacks had continued for an hour and a half beyond the time the ceasefire was meant to start.

President Trump, an hour ago, warned Israeli military of further escalating the war against Iran, asking Zionist Israel to ‘call their pilots back’ and refrain from attacking Iran any further.

“I didn’t like the fact that Israel unloaded right after we made the deal. They didn’t have to unload and I didn’t like the fact that the retaliation was very strong,” Trump told reporters on Tuesday.

“In all fairness, Israel unloaded a lot, and now I hear Israel just went out because they felt it was violated by one rocket that didn’t land anywhere. That’s not what we want,” Trump said.
