Iran prepares to target US military bases as conflict with Israel escalates


The US has thousands of troops deployed on bases across the Middle East, and have carried out repeated military operations in recent decades.

TEHRAN: An American newspaper, The New York Times, reported that Iran has completed preparations to target United States (US) military bases in the Middle East.

According to the US officials in the report, if the US joins Israel in its outgoing conflict with Iran, the Islamic Republic is poised to launch missile attacks and deploy other military equipment against American installations.

The report indicates that the initial attacks on the US bases may originate from Iraq, with Iran potentially employing a strategy of laying mines in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

This development comes amidst heightened tensions following a series of missiles and drone changes between Iran and Israel, which escalated over the past six days.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, issued a strong statement in response to the ongoing conflict, declaring “We must give a strong response to the terrorist Zionist government”. He stressed that Iran “will not show mercy to the Zionists”.

Early on Wednesday morning, hostilities between Iran and Israel rose significantly after explosions were reported over Tel Aviv as Iranian missiles targeted Israeli cities.

The occupying forces confirmed that its defense systems were activated to intercept the missiles. Previously, Israeli military had launched a series of airstrikes targeting Iranian missile launch and storage sites, reportedly striking 12 locations.

The conflict began last Friday when Israel suddenly launched a series of airstrikes on Iran that killed several of its high-profile military leaders and nuclear scientists. The occupying force also targeted Iran’s nuclear sites, including the uranium enrichment Natanz facility.

US threw its support behind the belligerent Netanyahu, who has also been carrying out an active genocide against Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. Over 50,000 Palestinians have been brutally killed, with the right-wing Israeli government killing thousands in Lebanon, where killed several leaders of Hezbollah.
