In response to escalating tensions and clashes along the borders, Iran has initiated efforts to fortify its border with Afghanistan. The Iranian Ministry of Interior has deployed four army border engineering groups to commence work in the northeastern region. Provinces such as Mazandaran, Gulistan, Rizvi Khorasan, North Khorasan, South Khorasan, and Samnan will witness heightened security measures.

Brigadier General Hassan Makfi, the Grand Forces Commander, disclosed that a $3 billion have been allocated to construct barbed wire, fences, and a four-meter high concrete wall along the Iran-Afghan border.

Iranian Defense Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiani has said that the revival and activation of terrorist groups in Afghanistan is a great threat to the region. He said that the decision to seal the Afghan border has come after the Kerman bombing, which proves that terrorists came to Iran from Afghanistan and seriously damaged the country’s security.
