Israel claims to foil assassination plot on Netanyahu

JERUSALEM: Israel on Thursday has claimed that it has thwarted a plot to assassinate its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Israeli security services arrested an Israeli citizen on suspicion of involvement in an Iranian-backed assassination plot targeting prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In regards to the assassination plot, security services said that other prominent Israeli figures, including Defence Minister Yoav Gallant and the head of the Shin Bet intelligence agency, were also discussed as possible targets at two meetings in Iran which the Israeli citizen attended. The Citizen is said to be a businessman with connections in Turkey.
UN chief warns against using civilian objects in military operations
On Wednesday night Israeli jets and artillery hit multiple targets in southern Lebanon, Israel’s military said
The air strikes occurred overnight and hit Hezbollah targets in multiple areas in southern Lebanon including Chihine, Tayibe, Blida, Meiss El, Jabal, Aitaroun, Kfarkela and a Hezbollah weapons storage facility in Khiam.
Israeli military also said that Hezbollah had fired 20 projectiles into Israel on Wednesday, however, most were intercepted by air defence systems without causing injuries.
