BEIRUT: The Middle East conflict has taken a dangerous turn as Syria has joined Palestine and Lebanon in launching attacks on Israel.
Lebanon’s Hezbollah, in a significant move, targeted an Israeli army vehicle in a bomb attack, while simultaneously, Hamas continued its rocket attacks on Israel.
As the violence intensifies, the death toll among Israelis has surged past 1,200, with an additional 3,000 injured. Reports indicate that Syria’s rockets landed in open areas, causing minimal damage.
Israel’s attacks on Gaza have also escalated, resulting in the deaths of over 900 Palestinians, further adding to the mounting human cost of the conflict.
In Yemen, the head of the Ansarullah Movement, Syed Abdul Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, issued a warning to the United States, stating that Yemeni citizens would join the defense of the Palestinians if the US were to enter the war.
Israel nears forming emergency government after Hamas attack
The arrival of a plane loaded with American weaponry in Israel has raised concerns about the intensification of the conflict. While details about the types of weapons remain undisclosed, they are believed to play a crucial role in military operations. The Biden administration has initiated the supply of military equipment to Israel this week, raising tensions in the region. The possibility of deploying a second fleet to Israel is under consideration, although the American national security adviser clarified that the U.S. military has not been deployed yet.
In response to the growing crisis, the Israeli Prime Minister contacted US President Joe Biden, expressing deep concern. President Biden announced an increase in military aid to Israel, vowing to ensure Israel’s defense needs and address potential regional threats arising from the ongoing attacks.
Meanwhile, Hamas reiterated its commitment to resisting the occupation, emphasizing the right of Palestinians to defend their holy places and end the occupation.
The situation in the Middle East remains highly volatile, with no clear resolution in sight.
