New Delhi wakes up to 4.0 magnitude earthquake

NEW DELHI: A 4.0-magnitude earthquake jolted New Delhi and nearby areas early Monday morning, causing panic as people rushed out of their homes.

Strong tremors were felt in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad. According to the National Centre for Seismology, the quake struck at 5:36 am at a depth of 5 km, with its epicentre in New Delhi.

Though considered moderate on the Richter scale, the tremors felt more intense. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media, expressing concern and urging residents to stay alert for aftershocks.

No casualties or damage were reported, but the earthquake in New Delhi left residents shaken.

 A local resident said, “I’ve never felt anything like this before.”
