WEB DESK: A recently emerged island near Japan is capturing attention, having formed naturally in the last few weeks due to the eruption of an unnamed undersea volcano located approximately half a mile off the southern coast of Iwo Jima.
As reported by the Associated Press, within a mere 10 days of the volcanic activity, sufficient volcanic ash and fragmented rocks had accumulated on the shallow seabed, giving rise to a new island that now extends 66 feet above the ocean’s surface. While this phenomenon provides a fascinating glimpse into nature’s dynamic processes, the longevity of the island remains uncertain.

The recently formed island, measuring approximately 328 feet in diameter, as reported by the Japan Meteorological Agency’s volcanic division, stands as a potentially monumental development in the region. However, the island’s existence may prove to be remarkably transient.
