Ocasio-Cortez rejects allegations about voting for funding Israel

NEW YORK: Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, also known as AOC, has rejected pro-Palestinian allegations who said she voted for the bill passed on Friday, funding Israel’s defense system amid its war on Gaza.

In her Tuesday’s message posted to social networking Instagram, she said people were exploding a false messaging related to her vote into a bill passed on Friday.

Regarding the bill, that is to also now facilitating millions of dollars for Israel’s missile defense systems, she said “I quite literarily voted NO on.”

The NY-14 Representative has received multiple death threats following the amendment passed with 216 votes, strengthening Israeli defense systems.

Following the death threats, the 35-year old warned in her message that “the threat environment this morning is scary.”

Campaign Manager Oliver Hidalgo-Wohlleben in a post on X said, “last night (Sunday), our campaign office in the Bronx was vandalized and we are in the process of cleaning it up. Our office is a hub in the community and we want it to be a safe space for all of our neighbors.

“In the past few days, we also have received multiple threats on the Congresswoman’s life and we are treating this seriously with our security partners to make sure she, our staff, and volunteers are safe.”

After vandalizing her office, the activists had placed a placard on the building that read: “AOC FUNDS GENOCIDE IN GAZA,” the Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign office said.

AOC said in the latest message, “(Aggression) doesn’t help anyone. Drag me for the position if you disagree but don’t lie. It’s out of control. Saying I voted for this funding is false.”

Turning to Google, she also wrote in the comment box to her message, “Google is free. I did not vote to give any funding to Israel. I voted against it. Receipts are attached,” giving an evidence of no-voting to the Congress bill.

“Remember: Just because you see a meme doesn’t mean it’s true. And if you really believe that Marjorie Taylor Greene is an ally to Palestinians and a welcome part of your coalition, and that voting against her amendment that was designed exactly for this chaos is constructive and to be supported, then you can have her. Thanks.”

The Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a politician belonging to Democratic Party who has served since 2019 as the US representative for NY-14 congressional district.
