Rahul to start march from Bihar to protect vote, democracy

NEW DELHI: In a latest challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu nationalist government, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday announced launching a march from Bihar as “a direct fight against vote theft” and “decisive battle”.
In a post shared on X, he said the opposition alliance INDIA would start the “Voter Right March” on August 17 “from the soil of Bihar”.
“This is not just an election issue – it is a decisive battle to protect democracy, the constitution, and the principle of ‘one man, one vote’,” he remarked.
At the same, the scion of the Nehru dynasty promised that “we will ensure a clean voter list across the entire country. Youth, workers, farmers – every citizen, rise and join this people’s movement”.
With the Hindu nationalist BJP taking control of all the state institutions, he promised “victory” against the those involved in “vote theft”.
“This time, the defeat of vote thieves – the victory of the people, the victory of the constitution.”
Earlier, the Congress leader shocked India provided evidence to say that over one million fake voters were created in a single constituency in Bangalore in order to secure a win for the ruling Hindu nationalist BJP.

The opposition is gaining momentum against Modi at a time when is feeling isolated at the global stage despite the tall claims of making India a global power.

‘ERASE THE PAPER, STEAL THE RIGHTS’
Separately, he also talked about stealing the rights of “Bahujans” — scheduled castes or “untouchables”, scheduled tribes, Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and religious minorities.
“‘Erase the paper, steal the rights’ – The BJP has made this a new weapon for the oppression of Bahujans.”
In this connection, Rahul said, “Somewhere they remove the names of Dalits and backward classes from the voter list, and somewhere they make the forest rights titles of tribals ‘disappear’.”
The Congress leader promised that they would stop the practice.
“We will not let this happen – tribals are the first owners of this country, and we will protect their rights at all costs.”
