Russia delivering weapons to North Korea ‘incredibly concerning’: US


Russian President Vladimir Putin promised to build trade and security systems with North Korea that are not controlled by the West and pledged his unwavering support in a letter published by North Korean state media on Tuesday ahead of his planned visit to the country.

WASHINGTON: The United States (US) State Department said on Thursday that the possibility of Russia delivering weapons to North Korea was “incredibly concerning.”

“It would destabilise the Korean Peninsula, of course, and potentially … violate UN Security Council resolutions that Russia itself has supported,” spokesperson Matthew Miller told reporters.
