ALABAMA: A mass shooting killed four and injured at least 18 others in Alabama over the weekend outside of a popular nightspot. No suspects have been found.
The shooting occurred in the popular Five Points South entertainment district of Birmingham. According to Birmingham Police Chief Scott Thurmond, multiple shooters exited a vehicle and began firing before fleeing the scene. Thurmond stated that the police currently believe that the attack was a ‘hit’.
“Someone was willing to pay money to have that person killed,” said Thurmond.
Officer Truman Fitzgerald said the attack was “not random and stemmed from an isolated incident where multiple victims were caught in the crossfire.”
The bodies of two men and one woman were found at the scene. A third man died from his wounds in the hospital.
This was the second mass shooting in the city over the span of two months.
