MUMBAI: A plane believed to be carrying former Bangladesh premier Sheikh Hasina has taken off from an air base in India.

According to the Indian news agency ANI report citing unnamed sources, a C130J plane belonging to the Bangladesh Air Force has departed from a military air base in India at 0900 am local time (0330 GMT) and “is moving towards its next destination”.

“Indian security agencies are monitoring it closely,” the report added.

The plane had earlier on Monday evening flew Sheikh Hasina to the northern Indian city of Ghaziabad.

Earlier, Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met with Hasina Wazed upon her arrival in India.

Indian Prime Minister Modi chaired All Parties Conference in New Delhi to discuss Bangladesh situation as India faced major setback diplomatically and strategically with ouster of pro-India Sheikh Hasina from Dhaka in the wake of the students’ protests.
