Small plane crash in Brazil kills all seven aboard

SAO PAULO: Seven people died after a small plane crashed on Sunday in the rural area of Itapeva, a town in southeast Brazil’s Minas Gerais state, the state’s Fire Department reported.

Firefighters informed that the plane was flying from Campinas, in neighboring Sao Paulo state, and broke up mid-air and crashed at around 10:30 AM in the mining town of Itapeva, according to an AFP report.

Witnesses in the accident area told Brazil’s Globo news network that the plane exploded in midair before hitting the ground, killing all aboard.

According to residents, at the time of the accident, a storm with rain and wind was hitting the area where the plane crashed.
