WASHINGTON: The United States, through the Department of State, affirmed its dedication to ensuring the upcoming elections in Pakistan are conducted freely and fairly, with the ultimate goal of benefiting the Pakistani populace.

In a press briefing on Monday, the US Department of State’s principal deputy spokesperson, Vedant Patel, addressed concerns raised about the potential exclusion of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, due to his incarceration.

Patel, however, clarified that the US government had refrained from making assessments regarding the composition of candidates or the representation of any specific political party in the upcoming Pakistani elections.

Patel underscored that such decisions were to be determined by the people of Pakistan themselves.
