NEW DELHI: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is unable to even respond to the repeated statements of US President Donald Trump about the Pakistan-India ceasefire and higher tariffs on India, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has now explained the real reason. It is financial interests that have tied Modi and Gautam Adani together.
But it is not the first time that Rahul has highlighted the Modi-Adani duo.
Last week, he endorsed Trump’s statement that India was a dead economy. One of the factors he cited was the “Modi-Adani partnership”.

TRUMP FOCUS ON RUSSIAN OIL EXPALINED
In the process, Rahul has now fully defined why Trump is ready to increase the tariffs imposed on India for buying Russian oil.

Modi is really in trouble. You cannot hide your weaknesses from the US president whose eyes and ears is the CIA.
Asking India as a nation and country to understand, Rahul — the heir of the Gandhi dynasty — said, “The reason PM Modi cannot stand up to President Trump despite his repeated threats is the ongoing US investigation into Adani.”
The point Rahul tried to prove that Modi cannot afford exposing his links with the “big business” that Adani represents.
One threat is to expose the financial links between Modi, Adani and Russian oil deals, he said.
“Modi hands are tied,” said the Congress leader who foiled Modi’s plan to get a two-thirds majority in the last general election.
The BJP was eyeing the target so that it could reverse the secular credentials to the Indian constitution and imposed Hindutva identity on the country.
DESPERATE FOR BIHAR
So instead of ruling India like a king, Modi is now at the mercy of two coalition partners — Chandrababu Naidu of Andhra Pradesh and the Bihar-famed Nitish Kumar.
It also explains why Modi is so desperate to get favourable results in the Bihar elections to be held in October or November this year. Any success of the Congress-led INDIA — an electoral alliance of opposition parties — could lead to the downfall of Modi later.
Therefore, Modi timed his aggression against Pakistan “perfectly” with the Bihar polls. However, he couldn’t get what he wanted.
Isolation at the world stage is the end product of “Pahalgam attacks, with Modi becoming a laughing stock at the world stage.
But the question is what the reason behind the US probe into Adani.
OVER $250 BILLION IN BRIBES
According to the US Attorney General’s Office, Adani is involved in “conspiracies to commit securities and wire fraud and substantive securities fraud for their roles in a multi-billion-dollar scheme to obtain funds from US investors and global financial institutions on the basis of false and misleading statements.”
These excerpts are from the indictment the Indian billionaire is facing.
In this connection, it is said, “This indictment alleges schemes to pay over $250 million in bribes to Indian government officials, to lie to investors and banks to raise billions of dollars, and to obstruct justice.”
“These offenses were allegedly committed by senior executives and directors to obtain and finance massive state energy supply contracts through corruption and fraud at the expense of U.S. investors. The Criminal Division will continue to aggressively prosecute corrupt, deceptive, and obstructive conduct that violates U.S. law, no matter where in the world it occurs.”
