US reports “progress” on Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement


Recent reports from the United States (US) govemrent suggests that a xceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas is on the verge of completion, with around “90 per cent” of the terms reportedly settled.

WASHINGTON: Recent reports from the United States  (US) govemrent suggests that a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas is on the verge of completion, with around “90 per cent” of the terms reportedly settled.

The White House National Security Communications Advisor, John Kirby, confirmed that the essential framework of the agreement was established.

The adviser went on to state that ongoing discussions would focus on the details of its implementation, including the potential exchange of prisoners.

Amid the diplomatic developments, the situation on the ground remains critical. According to reports, recent Israeli airstrikes in Gaza led to the deaths of at least 17 Palestinians. More than 50 were critically injured.

Israeli aggression in the region has alarmed global leaders and observers, with human rights organisations warning of dire humanitarian crisis in the occupied region.

Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) ordered around 4,000 Palestinains in eastern Jenin to evacuate the area, as Israel extended its siege to the occupied West Bank, after bombing Gaza to smithereens.

The United Nations criticided Israel military’s brutal tactics in the occupied West Bank, warning of severe human catastrophe already unfolding.

Israeli brutality has already resulted in the deaths of more than 40,878 Palestinians, including thousands of children. The continuous bombardment and military actions have sparked widespread outrage and calls for immediate end to Israeli violence.

In another incident, at least five Palestinians were reported dead following an Israeli airstrike in the occupied West Bank. While US  ‘tries’ to get Hamas and Israel to agree to a ceasefire, its Palestinian civilians on the ground paying the price.
