Zil Hajj moon sighted in Saudi Arabia, Waqoof-e-Arafat on June 5

ISLAMABAD: Zil Hajj moon was sighted in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, meaning that millions of hajj pilgrims will performing Waqoof-e-Arafat on June 5 (Thursday).
Hence, the people in the kingdom will celebrate Eidul Azha on June 6.
Waqoof-e-Arafat, also known as “standing at Arafat”, is the main ritual of Hajj. It is performed on the ninth of Zil Hajj, as the pilgrims gather at Mount Arafat, where the where the Imam of Kaaba delivers a sermon.
It is the central ritual during the Hajj pilgrimage, after which the Hajj pilgrims sacrifice the animals next day to celebrate the Eidul Azha.
At the same time, moonsighting was also reported from other Gulf States, as millions of Muslims are set to converge on Makkah to perform Hajj.
Meanwhile, Indonesia will celebrate Eidul Azha on June 6 after media reports confirmed moonsighting in the Southeast Asian nation.

However, both Pakistan and the Muslims in India are set to celebrate the three-day festival simultaneously on June 7 (Saturday), as Zil Hajj moon was not sighted in the two countries.
