First Sri Lanka-Bangladesh test heads for draw in final session

GALLE: Sri Lanka still need 262 runs as the first test against Bangladesh enters its last session on day 5. Bangladesh declared in the day’s second session after scoring 285 runs in their second innings.

Sri Lanka has only played eight overs so far, scoring 34 runs, all of which came from the opening partnership between Pathum Nissanka and Lahiru Udara.

The Lion’s debutant was dismissed in the sixth over after being stemmed by wicket keeper Litton das on a delivery from Taijul Islam that Udara couldn’t make contact with. He only made nine runs off the 13 deliveries he faced.

Nissanka fared better, scoring 24 runs off 25, including four fours. However, he too was dismissed in the very next over after chipping a delivery from Nayeem Hasan in the seventh over to short mid-wicket where Najmul Hossain Shanto took the catch.

Dinesh Chandimal and Angelo Mathews are currently on the pitch for Sri Lanka. The lions stand at 34 for two, after 8 overs. They require 262 runs in just 29 overs to win.
