Schools reopen in Punjab after summer break

LAHORE: All schools in Punjab have reopened Monday with revised timings, with the exception of those educational institutes in the flood affected areas.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, all schools in Lahore have resumed educational activities from September 1.
However, 45 schools in flood-affected areas will remain closed for another seven days. The Deputy Commissioner said these 45 schools have been converted into relief camps.
According to the notification, 33 government and 12 private schools in Lahore will remain closed.
Chenab flood to worsen as India releases water from Baglihar, Salal
Central Model School on Rattigan Road will stay shut along with schools in Maraka, Manga, Chuhang, Shadab Colony, and Saggian. Schools in Tar Garh Shahdara, Bund Road Shafiqabad, and Pari Mahal Shahdara will also remain closed.
The notification further stated that schools in Thokar Niaz Baig, Shahpur Kanjran, Bund Road, and Gawshala will stay shut.
Schools in Rangeel Pur, Khurd Pur, Chhagian Bhama, Mohlanwal, Multan Road, and Manawal will also remain closed.
Meanwhile, in Chiniot, five major health centers and 88 schools across the district have been severely damaged by floods, making it impossible to continue educational activities there.
In District Sahiwal in view of the floods 74 schools will remain closed for another seven days, as per the orders of District Commissioner Sahiwal Shahid Mehmood.
SCHOOL TIMINGS REVISED
The Punjab School Education Department has announced revised school timings for all public schools in the province, effective until October 15, 2025.
The new schedule applies to single-shift, double-shift, and afternoon schools. Separate working hours have also been set for teachers, with extra time allocated for lesson planning, training, and co-curricular activities.

The department has ordered all District Education Authorities to ensure strict compliance with the new schedule. Officials warned that any negligence or violation will face legal action. A 15-minute relaxation has been given for the opening and closing of girls’ schools.
