Pakistan’s car sales

KARACHI: Pakistan’s car sales rose 62 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to 14,050 units in August 2025, while also showing a 27 per cent month-on-month (MoM) increase, according to data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufactures Association (PAMA).

Pakistan car sales remained at 11,034 units in July 2025, reflecting a 28 per cent YoY rise while a 49 per cent MoM fall. Pakistan’s car sales clocked in at 21,773 units in Jun 2025.

Despite flood-related disruptions, the sector recorded MoM growth, led mainly by higher sales of Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC).

Topline Securities said that YoY growth was supported by a more stable macroeconomic environment, new product variants, lower interest rates, easing inflation, and improving consumer sentiment.

This took total sales in the first two months of FY26 to 25,093 units, up 45 per cent from 17,288 units in the same period last year.

Company-wise breakdown

PSMC posted the strongest performance, with sales surging 96 per cent YoY and 94 per cent MoM.

Alto volumes rose 2.1x YoY and 80 per cent MoM, reflecting a low base as June sales had been pulled forward ahead of the GST hike effective July 1, 2025. Suzuki Swift sales also climbed 2.7x YoY and 2.8x MoM to 1,473 units.

Hyundai Nishat registered 83 per cent YoY growth but dipped 1 per cent MoM to 1,212 units, driven by Tucson and Elantra sales.

Honda Atlas Cars (HCAR) declined, down 7 per cent YoY and 28 per cent MoM to 1,073 units.

Sazgar Engineering (SAZEW) posted a 10 per cent YoY increase but slipped 3 per cent MoM to 1,049 units, which included sales of the newly launched Haval H6 PHEV.
