ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has strongly condemned Israel’s recent attack on Qatar, calling it a blatant violation of international law and a dangerous escalation in an already volatile region.

In a series of statements, Dar described the Israeli aggression as “completely unjustified” and “an unexpected move” against a sovereign state. He said that Israel’s actions, coming after recent strikes in Lebanon and Syria, show a broader pattern of regional destabilisation.

“There is no justification for Israel’s attack on a sovereign country,” Dar said, while also highlighting the need for unity within the Islamic world. He confirmed that Pakistan played an active role in supporting Qatar and was closely coordinating with allies to respond diplomatically and strategically.

Dar highlighted that the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has also denounced the attack in the strongest terms. He further stressed the importance of the Arab-Islamic emergency meeting in Doha, calling it a critical step in shaping a united response to Israeli aggression.

Pakistan, in coordination with Somalia, has also formally requested an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), aiming to mobilise global attention and action against the attack.

Turning to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Dar reiterated Pakistan’s position for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire. He said the genocide of Palestinians continues unabated, and the world community must intervene decisively.

“It has become clear that Israel does not want peace,” he said, calling for a shift from verbal condemnation to concrete action. He stressed that “the world must now stop Israel’s path.”

On the broader diplomatic front, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s longstanding support for the peaceful resolution of conflicts, including in Palestine and Kashmir. He called for serious reforms in the UN Security Council to ensure it remains relevant in resolving global crises.

He also warned that “future wars will be over water,” referring to India’s attempts to unilaterally alter the Indus Waters Treaty, which he said Pakistan opposes strongly. Dar reminded that water distribution was clearly outlined in the treaty signed between the two countries.

Answering a question on the possibility of armed conflict between Pakistan and Israel, the foreign minister said that in the May 2025 skirmish with India, Israel has fully supported India. He added that if push comes to shove, Pakistan will be ready.

Addressing regional stability, he noted that Pakistan’s relations with Afghanistan have improved, and the country continues to advocate for unity in the Muslim Ummah.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s strength, Dar said, “Pakistan has the best armed forces, robust defense capabilities, and is a responsible nuclear power standing firmly with the Muslim world.” He added that while Pakistan seeks peace, it will not beg for dialogue with any country, including India.
