CDA waives grave digging fee

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board on Thursday approved waiver in grave digging and funeral bus service charges to provide relief to residents of Islamabad.

The approval was given at the CDA’s 16th board meeting chaired by chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa.

The meeting took up multiple agenda items for discussion. The meeting approved waiver in charges for grave digging and funeral bus services to ease the burden on citizens during times of grief.

The CDA chairman also directed the authorities concerned to arrange more funeral buses to the city’s graveyards.

The CDA board also decided to take measures to further improve the standards of Capital Hospital.

The meeting also discussed proposals to increase the hospital’s revenue sources and revising the existing fee structure for private patients under the Institution-Based Private Practice (IBPP).

The CDA chairman directed that all revenue generated be reinvested into the hospital to enhance facilities. He also instructed the provision of modern computers and equipment to digitise the hospital and make it cashless.

The meeting also reviewed the CDA internship policy 2025. It was agreed that graduates from top public and private universities in Pakistan would be hired for internship on merit. The initiative is aimed at strengthening the CDA’s workforce with skilled manpower across all formations.

The CDA board also approved land allocation for an Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) office near the New Islamabad International Airport and agreed to allot land for the construction of a new police station.

It was decided to forward a proposal to the federal government for naming Service Road (East) in Sector F-10 after national athlete Arshad Nadeem.

The CDA board also approved a lease agreement with the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) for the use of Islamabad’s municipal landfill site, as well as an extension of RWMC’s services for transporting solid waste from transfer stations in I-9, I-11, and other sites to the dumping ground at Chak Beli Khan Road, Rawalpindi.

The board approved the upgradation of CDA Statistical Assistant employees in grades 15 and 16 in line with Finance Division rules.

CDA Chairman Randhawa stressed the importance of ensuring transparency and accountability in implementing all decisions.

He reaffirmed that Islamabad’s development, beautification and the provision of quality facilities to citizens remain the CDA’s top priority.

Earlier, the CDA had decided to build 100 recharge wells and water tanks to conserve water in Islamabad. The CDA had also declared the construction of recharge wells at all farmhouses and residential units in Islamabad mandatory.
