PSX extends gains as KSE-100 jumps past 158,700 points

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) opened Tuesday’s session on a strong note, with the benchmark KSE-100 index trading in positive territory from the start. At 9:32 AM, the index stood at 158,425.27 after gaining 870.61 points, with volumes recorded at 23.45 million shares.
By 10:45 AM, the rally had strengthened further as the PSX touched 158,783.59, up 1,228.93 points, while turnover swelled to 293.32 million shares.
As of 12:04 PM, the index had not fallen below the 158,000 mark since the opening bell, reflecting sustained bullish sentiment. The day’s high so far was 158,783.59, while the low came in at 158,030.78. Market volumes climbed to 389.89 million shares. In terms of performance, the index showed a one-year gain of 93.70 percent and was up 37.71 percent year-to-date.
The previous close was at 157,554.66. The benchmark remained within a day range of 158,030.78 to 158,783.59, while the 52-week range stretched between a low of 80,352.22 and a record high of 159,337.46.
Market movers
Among top advancers, FANM rose 14.62 percent to Rs7.84, GUSM gained 10.70 percent to Rs10.35, while SERT, ASLCPS, PCAL, ICCI, INKL, SCL, SGPL, and STL all secured gains of around 10 percent.
On the flip side, GEMBLUEX dropped 9.96 percent to Rs58.64, FIL shed 9.56 percent to Rs185.33, while GEMMEL, ASLPS, DIIL, PAKL, LEUL, GEMPACRA, FECM, and JKSM were among the biggest losers of the day.

Within KSE-100 companies, prominent decliners included TPLRF1 (-3.29 per cent), PTC (-2.80 per cent), BOP (-2.54 per cent), ISL (-1.77 per cent), and JDWS (-1.70 per cent). On the gaining side, BWCL advanced 9.46 percent to Rs622, HGFA added 4.97 percent to Rs20.70, while KEL surged nearly 5 percent to Rs6.41 on massive volumes of 232.7 million shares.
Other notable gainers were HALEON (+3.75 per cent), PAKT (+3.00 per cent), ABOT (+2.78 per cent), UBL (+2.75 per cent), PSO (+2.09 per cent), and SYS (+1.87 per cent).

On Monday, the KSE-100 had closed at 157,554.66, down 482.71 points or 0.31 percent. The index traded in a wide range of 1,604.62 points, hitting a high of 158,850.34 and a low of 157,245.72.
Turnover stood at 833.29 million shares. Out of 100 index companies, 41 closed higher, 58 lower, and one remained unchanged. FCCL, HMB, LCI, UBL, and PGLC were among the major losers, while HGFA, GLAXO, MUGHAL, KEL, and CNERGY led the gainers.
In terms of index impact, UBL, ENGROH, MEBL, FFC, and LUCK dragged the market down, while PSO, HUBC, OGDC, GLAXO, and MARI helped cushion the fall.
