WEB DESK: Hot and dry weather conditions are expected to dominate most parts of the country on Monday, according to the latest forecast issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
However, a few regions, particularly in southeastern Sindh, may experience some relief in the form of rain accompanied by strong winds and thundershowers.

Going region by region, in the federal capital, Islamabad, and its surrounding areas, the weather will remain hot and dry throughout the day. Similar conditions are likely to persist across most districts of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Balochistan.
In Sindh, while the majority of the province will remain under the grip of hot and dry conditions, some southeastern districts including Umerkot, Tharparkar, Badin, Mithi, and Sujawal are expected to see partly cloudy skies. These areas could also receive scattered rain, with strong winds and thundershowers likely at isolated locations.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, hot and dry weather is predicted for most districts, but partly cloudy conditions are expected in the upper regions including Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Kohistan.
Balochistan will also continue to experience dry and hot weather across most of the province.
Meanwhile, dry conditions are forecast for Kashmir, while partly cloudy weather is expected in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Authorities have advised residents, especially in the southern and central parts of the country, to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.
KARACHI REMAINS IN THE GRIP OF HEAT WAVE
While some parts of Sindh are likely to see clouds and rain today, the provincial capital Karachi continues to endure a persistent heat wave, with temperatures in the city expected to rise even further today.
The intensity of the heat is expected to increase, pushing the temperature beyond the 37 to 40°C mark. Currently, the temperature in Karachi is recorded at 27°C, but the heat index, which factors in humidity, is making the city feel as though it is at 31°C. The maximum temperature is forecast to hit 40°C today, intensifying the discomfort for residents, especially during the afternoon hours.
The city is experiencing high humidity, which will continue to make the heat feel more oppressive, leading to a heightened risk of heat-related illnesses.

However, some respite is expected from Tuesday to Thursday. The PMD has forecast strong winds and thundershowers to hit Karachi during this period, which might bring much-needed rain, with both light and heavy rainfall expected at various locations in the city. The wet weather may help reduce temperatures temporarily and alleviate the ongoing heat wave.
