ENG Women versus BAN Women

ISLAMABAD: England Women clinched victory by four wickets against Bangladesh Women in the 8th match of the ICC Women’s World Cup, successfully chasing a 178-run target in 47 overs on Tuesday.

After Bangladesh were sent in to bat first and posted 177, England faced early pressure from the Bangladeshi pace and spin attack but held their composure to reach the target comfortably.

Openers Tammy Beaumont and Amy Jones started the chase cautiously. However, both fell cheaply to Marufa Akter, who struck early to leave England wobbling. Beaumont managed 13 runs, while Jones was dismissed for a single.

Captain Heather Knight then anchored the innings brilliantly, scoring an unbeaten 79 off 111 balls, including one six and eight fours. Her calm and composed knock proved decisive in guiding England home.

England benefited from nine extras conceded by Bangladeshi bowlers, which helped them cross the finishing line in the 47th over.

Earlier, Bangladesh’s Sobhana Mostary top-scored with 60 off 108 balls, helping her side reach 177 after an early collapse.

With this win, England strengthened their position in the tournament, while Bangladesh continued to struggle for consistency in their batting lineup.

Earlier, in the England Women versus Bangladesh Women clash at the ICC Women’s World Cup, England had been set a 178-run target after Bangladesh Women posted 177 runs in 50 overs on Tuesday.

Sobhana Mostary, whose patient 60 off 108 balls was the standout performance of the innings, anchored Bangladesh’s innings. Her effort helped the team recover after early wickets fell cheaply to the disciplined English bowling attack.

England’s bowlers dominated from the start, reducing Bangladesh to three wickets inside the first 15 overs. Skipper Nigar Sultana’s side struggled to build partnerships as key batters departed early.

Rubya Haider managed only 4 before being bowled by Lauren Bell, while Sharmin Akhter contributed 30 off 52 balls before falling to Sophie Ecclestone. Linsey Smith, adding to Bangladesh’s early woes, dismissed Captain Nigar Sultana for a duck.
