Qingqi rickshaws to be legalised

LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to amend the Vehicle Rules 1969 to give legal cover to the motorcycle Qingqi rickshaws in the province.
The decision to this effect was made at the 34th meeting of the Punjab cabinet held on Monday, which was presided over by Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The meeting was attended by the provincial ministers, the additional chief secretary, the IG Punjab and other senior officials.
The meeting gave go-ahead to amending the Vehicle Rules 1969 to give legal cover to the motorcycle qingqi rickshaws in the province. The motorcycle rickshaw/Qingqi will be registered as three-wheeler and for its temporary registration the regional transport authority will be given the status of special registration authority.
It was decided that after temporary registration, four months’ time would be given for change in design and size of three wheelers. The meeting also decided to upgrade the infrastructure of eighteen roads of the province in order to improve the safety for road travelers. It was also decided that the collected toll tax will be used to improve the conditions of the roads.
Learner’s Driving licence app launched
The DG Khan Cardiology Institute was also given the status of medical institution during the meeting and an administrative committee was also constituted for run the affairs of the institute.
The Punjab CM also approved the start of nursing classes at Tayyip Erdogan Hospital. On the occasion, Mohsin Naqvi said that a 180-bed Institute of Cardiology will be made functional in Sahiwal soon. The provincial cabinet also approved a project for expansion and renovation of Data Darbar.
Dera Ghazi Khan Cardiology Institute was also given the status of medical institution under the Punjab Medical and Health Institutions Act 2003 during the meeting.
