Punjab licence fee hike to take effect from tomorrow

LAHORE: The licence fee hike schedule in Punjab will be implemented from tomorrow (January 10), announced CTO Lahore Amara Athar.
Citizens in Punjab are urged to renew and obtain new licences promptly, with a fee of 500 rupees for each car and motorcycle learner permit, she said.
The updated system will allow citizens to acquire licences for 1, 2, 3, 5, and 10 years.
Notably, international and regular licence renewals can be done from the comfort of one’s home. Under the new fee structure, licence renewal is permitted on an annual basis.
To enhance citizen convenience, all license offices are currently open.
Punjab govt raises learner’s driving licence fee to Rs1,000
CTO Athar highlighted the successful implementation of a one-window operation at Liberty Police Service Center. Eight service centers in the city operate 24/7, and online services have significantly reduced the rush by 90%.
Last month, the government decided to raise driving license fees for cars and motorcycles.
FEE HIKES AFTER JAN 10
The Punjab government is all set to enforce new fee structure for driving licence with a massive hike after 20 years.
The new rates will come into effect from January 10, 2024 and the government is planning to publish advertisement to aware people in this regard.
Earlier the cabinet had approved an increase in driving licence fee.
Starting January 10, the learner fee will surge from Rs 60 to Rs 1000, alongside an increase in LTV, HTV, and PSV licence fee. Residents of the US, Canada, and other countries can obtain a licence online by paying $100.
