ISLAMABAD: In a bid to enhance the environmental sustainability of the federal capital, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has unveiled a series of groundbreaking initiatives, as revealed by a spokesperson.
These efforts aim to transform Islamabad into a model city for climate-friendly e-mobility.
The spokesperson highlighted key projects, including the implementation of an automated car parking system, the introduction of electric buses, citywide tree-plantation drives, and the establishment of a bicycle route network.
These initiatives collectively seek to promote a greener, more sustainable transportation system while minimising the city’s carbon footprint.
Speaking to a private news channel, the spokesperson highlighted the steps being taken to fight climate change and reduce carbon emissions.
The focal point of these efforts is the imminent launch of over 200 e-buses that will soon ply the roads of Islamabad, providing citizens with an eco-friendly alternative for their daily commute.
The introduction of electric buses is poised to revolutionise transportation in the city, offering not only an environmentally conscious mode of travel but also contributing to reduced traffic congestion.
Additionally, citizens can expect new routes that will enhance connectivity and further improve the overall climate of the capital.
Addressing the cycling project, the spokesperson outlined an ambitious plan to create a secure and extensive citywide bicycle route network. According to The News, this initiative is designed to promote safe and accessible cycling throughout Islamabad, providing citizens with an equitable and sustainable commuting option.
Furthermore, the CDA spokesperson announced a collaboration with banks to introduce an automated car parking system, aiming to address the long-standing parking issues that have plagued the federal capital for years.
This move is expected to streamline parking facilities and enhance the overall urban experience for residents.
Responding to inquiries about tree planting, the spokesperson highlighted a collaborative effort with universities to launch a mega tree planting drive.
The initiative aims not only to increase the city’s green cover but also to involve citizens, particularly educational institutions, in preserving the natural beauty of Islamabad.
