Threat to blow up Central Jail Adiala spark panic, case registered

RAWALPINDI: Panic gripped the Central Jail Adiala Rawalpindi as authorities register a case against an unknown caller who threatened to blow up the facility within the next three days.
The alarming incident unfolded when an unidentified individual, claiming to be speaking from Afghanistan, made two threatening calls to the official number of Central Jail Adiala. The first call, which occurred at 2:30 PM, displayed no caller ID on the jail phone’s CLI (Caller Line Identification). However, in a subsequent call at 4:30 PM, the number appeared with the code 971, indicating a foreign origin.

The case has been officially registered at the Saddar Beroni Police Station under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and Section 25 D of the Telegraph Act. The line officer of Adiala Jail, ASI Sajjad Haider, is named as the accused in the case.
Authorities are taking the threats seriously, initiating an immediate investigation to trace the identity of the caller and assess the credibility of the threats. The situation has caused panic among the inmates and staff within the Central Jail Adiala.
In response to the escalating tension, a prompt decision has been made to transfer Bushra Bibi from Adiala Jail to Bani Gala. Additionally, her residence in Bani Gala has been declared a Sub Jail as a precautionary measure.
