Fake medicine factory sealed in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) conducted a joint raid at a factory in Ghouri Town where counterfeit medicines were being manufactured.
The factory was sealed after recovery of a huge quantity of fake and counterfeit medicines.

FIA Assistant Director Nauman Khalil and Drug Controller Naveed Anwar, inspectors Mansoor Latif, Gul Zeb Khan and others took part in the raid.
During the raid, health and FIA authorities recovered raw material and packaging material for the production of multivitamins, mineral products, herbal medicines and other nutracutical products,
Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption Circle FIA Afzal Khan Niazi has formed teams to arrest the suspects involved in running the factory.
He also directed FIA officials to launch a crackdown against such factories operating in Islamabad.
According to experts, production of spurious and counterfeit medicines in Pakistan is a significant and serious concern with far-reaching implications for public health, safety, and the economy.
