US Centcom engaged Iranian-backed Houthi drones in Red Sea

TAMPA: United States (US) Central command (US Centcom) claims its forces “successfully” took on two drones in the “Houthi controlled” areas of Yemen on Tuesday.

In a post shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the combatant command’s official account stated that “between 10:50 am and 11:30 am (Sanaa time), US Central Command forces successfully engaged two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in Iranian-backed Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen”.

The post went on to state no injures were reported by the US forces and its allies. “There were no injuries or damage reported by US, coalition, or commercial ships”, the post read.

The post also mentioned that the US Centcom responded when it felt threatening the safety of the US forces and its allies. “It was determined the UAVs presented an imminent threat to US, coalition, and merchant vessels in the region. These actions are taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for US, coalition, and merchant vessels”.
