Sindh govt assures Chinese firm of full support for setting up electric bus plant

KARACHI: The Sindh government has assured full support to a Chinese bus company for setting up an electric bus plant in the province.
At a meeting chaired by Sindh’s Minister of Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon, the provincial government expressed the desire to introduce electric buses and electric taxis across the province.
The session was attended by Secretary Transport Salim Rajput, Sindh Mass Transit Authority Managing Director Kamal Dayo, representatives of the Chinese company, Charles Cao, Asad Muzaffar and others.
During the meeting, representatives from the Chinese company gave a briefing on the electric bus plant.
Memon sought details of the availability and features of the electric buses and their chargers. He expressed the Sindh government’s willingness to lend full support to the Chinese company if it intends to establish a plant in the province. He also assured that the Sindh government would purchase electric buses from the Chinese company once the plant was set up.
The provincial minister also assured full support to investors as well as agreed to provide subsidies in various matters. He urged for daily update in the procurement of electric buses so that the public could benefit from this service at the earliest.
