PPP not consulted on PTI ban, says Sharjeel Memon

PTI ban

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Inam Memon has stated that the government did not consult the PPP regarding the ban on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Memon emphasised that the PPP was neither contacted nor taken into confidence about this decision.

Memon held the former PTI chairman Imran Khan responsible for the federal government’s initiative. He accused Khan of fostering divisive politics in the country and attempting to compromise crucial aspects of national importance.

Memon further alleged that as the PTI government was nearing its end, they contacted the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to discourage assistance to Pakistan. He also referenced the events of May 9, claiming that PTI members attacked the police with petrol bombs.

Highlighting the PPP’s stance, Memon asserted that the party has consistently worked towards bringing all political parties to the negotiating table. He criticised the Supreme Court’s decision on reserved seats, describing it as incomprehensible. Memon added that PTI did not ask for the reserved seats, yet they were allocated to them.
