PSX recovers as KSE-100 rises by 447.91 points

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) made a strong recovery today following a nearly 2 per cent decline in the previous session.
The benchmark KSE-100 Index surged by 447.91 points, or 0.57 per cent, concluding Tuesday’s trading at 78,987.09.

Throughout the day, the index demonstrated a positive trajectory, peaking at 79,585.34, a gain of 1,046.16 points, and touching a low of 78,634.15, marking a 94.97-point rise from the previous close. The total trading volume for the KSE-100 Index reached 137.60 million shares.
Of the 100 companies listed on the index, 61 closed higher, 34 ended lower, and 5 remained unchanged.
Notable gainers included LCI with a 6.77 per cent increase, INIL up by 4.43 per cent, CEPB rising 3.25 per cent, MUREB gaining 3.18 per cent, and FATIMA up by 3.16 per cent. Conversely, major losers were FABL with a 3.32 per cent drop, FCEPL down 3.03 per cent, SNGP falling 2.99 per cent, ABL decreasing by 2.89 per cent, and HGFA down by 2.27 per cent.
Key contributors to the index’s gain were HUBC, adding 88.68 points; OGDC, which contributed 43.49 points; MARI, with a 39.60-point increase; UBL, contributing 28.36 points; and MTL, adding 27.95 points.
On the downside, HBL subtracted 20.80 points, SNGP reduced the index by 20.05 points, FABL contributed a negative 19.45 points, ABL decreased it by 12.54 points, and BAHL took away 11.82 points.
In the broader market, the All-Share Index ended at 50,135.58, up by 268.24 points, or 0.54 per cent. The total market volume was 316.25 million shares, down from the previous session’s 375.60 million. The traded value decreased to Rs17.07 billion, reflecting a reduction of Rs2.28 billion.
A total of 214,597 trades were executed across 433 companies, with 225 stocks closing higher, 164 lower, and 44 unchanged.
