WASHINGTON: The United States (US) Department of Defense is actively monitoring the escalating tensions in the Middle East, Pentagon Press Secretary Air Force Major General Pat Ryder said during a press briefing on Monday.
The Pentagon spokesperson said that the US government was prioritising efforts to reduce tensions within the Middle East.
Meanwhile, in response to the rising threats, the US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin ordered a rapid deployment of a fleet equipped with fighter jets to the area. The deployment aims to strengthen the US military presence and “enhance” operational readiness.

The Pentagon secretary said it has also sent the USS Georgia, a guided missile submarine, to the Central Command area.
General Ryder claimed that “concerns” were growing about a potential Iranian attack on Israel. While the Pentagon has not pinpointed the exact timing or details, it is preparing for various scenarios.
The spokesperson stated that the Department of Defense was taking the situation “very seriously”.
Though the Pentagon did not offer specific predictions, its proactive measures indicate a comprehensive approach to managing potential threats.
